Why is starting anything often so hard to do? Most of us have grand plans, or even little plans, to start something new. Whether it is starting a new fitness routine, investing, making a difficult business phone call, cleaning out that room, and so on. The hardest part seems to be the beginning. Tax-time comes to mind when I think about starting something that is difficult for me. So many figures, invoices, and then tackling the tax information minefield is a challenge all of its own! For me, tax time is stressful. Yes, I could go to a tax accountant and they could take all this stress away from me. After my last effort, I think I will do this. But despite being able to outsource it, I still need to know what to do as I am responsible, and the one signing the declaration. So starting on my tax or e-tax as I did, was very challenging for me. Once I started, I felt better. I jumped in the proverbial Deep end, and started swimming! The main thing is to make a start. We have all read how procrastination is not good for us. That we need to just start. But how do we start? Do you really want to start? Probably the first thing to do, is confirm if you actually do want to start with the project you have in mind. If you want to get fit, then procrastinating, and sitting watching TV is not going to get you to where you want to be. But if you say, called a friend and got them interested with you, then you could both investigate the local Gym, or start walking, jogging or whatever you would like to do. You can also set aside a day and time that you will commit to starting your project. New Year Resolutions: Work or fail? Gyms are known to increase their membership during January as so many of us make a New Year Resolution with the best of intentions, to get fit in the coming year ahead. By March, many Gyms often report that their member attendance drops off, as that New Year Resolution sometimes proves harder to follow through over the long term. A goal of Fitness might be reachable if you decide how many times a week or month you are able to attend a gym, or do your chosen activity. Being realistic can help you reach your goals as well. Another situation that can be a challenge to start, is cleaning up all the accumulated belongings that we store in our homes! Waiting for that day when we have time to do it. Hobbies, cook books, exercise equipment, clothes overflowing in the wardrobes, Handyman items for all those projects that you promised to do on the free weekend. Sometimes, getting around to these items happens when we need to move house. What a huge job! Just making a start can be the hardest part of all. We all likely have areas that are hard for us. By making a plan, and a time to start on that project can make all the difference. Then commit to yourself that you will follow that plan. Start. You will feel the difference. You can achieve what you set out to do. If only you just start. Take the first step. Every step leads you in the right direction. Like my tax return. I did start, and I did get it done. Now, a good accountant for next year. I think I will start looking now. By Lynda Kaplan Creator, Author, Loving Me Please also Share with Icons on Right side of Blog. Thank you!
